The Digital Future Society Lab brings global thinking to local action to test how digital technologies might be put at the service of society.
Methodology
The Lab’s methodology is based on open innovation and consists of three stages: 1) Launching of calls for proposals with the objective of identifying innovative solutions to challenges posed by the digital emergency, 2) Pilot testing of the solution in a real environment with strategic partners from the public and private sector, and 3) Creation of tools, guides and manuals with best practices.

Nexe Foundation
The pilot aims to transform a children’s playroom into an inclusive recreational facility through testing and validating innovative technology to improve accessibility. Moreover, to promote this space as a reference model of accessibility for other public spaces.

It aims to develop a web portal that allows researchers and journalists to verify content (videos and images) that may be “deep fakes”. The portal will include a repository, a reverse lookup tool, and an image analysis tool.

Pilot aims to develop an interactive data visualization tool to analyse and track pieces of misinformation circulating on social networks (Twitter), and identify actors participating in the dissemination of the hoax, in order to improve the traceability.

Optimizing energy consumption in cloud computing
Open University of Catalonia
Pilot to test the tool (EFC) in the environment of the virtual campus (140,000 users), and thus verify its usefulness to optimize energy consumption. In addition, consumption information is shown in real time to each user to promote awareness.

This project aims at analysing and understanding the use of electrical energy in the network of electric vehicle charging stations in underground parking lots and identifying both opportunities for optimizing energy use and future development opportunities of the charger network.
