Can the internet make the world more fair and sustainable?
The UN has been talking about global internet access as an essential tool for sustainability since the ’90s. But today, more than 20 years later, nearly half of the world’s population remains unconnected. While half of the world is worried about too much “screen time”, the rest of the world can’t find a screen to view in the first place.
Is the internet helping close the digital divide, or making it bigger? Even further, while some are busy designing and shaping this new digital and virtual world, others are so far removed, they have no voice in its development.
